Duke Energy has restored power to approximately 99,700 customers who were affected by the severe and damaging storms that ripped through Indiana on Wednesday. Wind gusts as high as 70 miles an hour in some areas resulted in widespread power outages. Approximately 16,800 customers remain out of service as of about 4 p.m. ET.

Duke Energy has restored power to more than 73,000 customers who were affected by severe and damaging storms that ripped through Indiana yesterday, causing more than 100,000 power outages across nearly all of the 28 districts the company serves. Crews are working to restore approximately 31,000 customers who remained without power as of 6 a.m. ET.

Duke Energy Indiana and Reliable Energy Inc., which represents several of Indiana’s major coal producers, have reached a settlement in Duke Energy Indiana’s request pending before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for a proposed new natural gas plant at its Cayuga Generating Station in Vermillion County, Ind.

Duke Energy Indiana is dedicating $200,000 to its Share the Light Fund to support customers facing financial hardship this summer.
