The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to four South Carolina organizations to fund strategic initiatives that will help enhance and diversify the energy industry’s workforce of tomorrow.

Duke Energy has awarded grants totaling $103,397 to six Indiana organizations to promote workforce development – and science, technology, engineering and math education opportunities.

Grants were presented to eight initiatives that aim to increase training opportunities for students who want to become electric line technicians or pursue other energy industry careers.

Duke Energy today celebrated the ceremonial grand opening of its new 1,640-megawatt Citrus Combined Cycle Station located at the 5,100-acre Crystal River Energy Complex in Citrus County, Fla., about 85 miles north of Tampa. The station started producing energy for 4.5 million Floridians in late 2018.
