Today marks the mid-point of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and Duke Energy Florida is highlighting the company’s smart, self-healing technology and its significant benefits to customers.

Duke Energy is monitoring forecasts and preparing for potential severe weather, including strong thunderstorms and damaging winds, that may bring widespread outages to its Indiana service territory this weekend.

While the 2025 hurricane season began on June 1, Duke Energy Florida has been preparing year-round, strengthening the company’s infrastructure and employing smart tools to help prevent power outages and allow for quicker restoration for its 2 million customers.

As summer heat ramps up, Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $400,000 to agencies that connect customers in need with utility assistance.

As summer’s first heat wave brought triple-digit temperatures to parts of North Carolina and South Carolina this week, Duke Energy thanks customers for conserving energy during periods of peak demand.

Duke Energy has restored power to approximately 99,700 customers who were affected by the severe and damaging storms that ripped through Indiana on Wednesday.
