Duke Energy crews and additional contractors worked throughout the day restoring power to Florida customers impacted by Tropical Storm Colin. As of 3:30 p.m., approximately 3,600 customers, mainly in Pinellas County, were still experiencing storm-related outages. Since the storm began on Monday, company crews have restored power about 95,000 of its 1.7 million Florida customers.

Duke Energy crews and additional contractors worked through the night in Florida restoring power knocked out by heavy rain and wind from Tropical Storm Colin. Since the storm began, Duke Energy crews have restored power to more than 85,000 of its 1.7 million Florida customers. As of 10:00 a.m., more than 99 percent of all customers had power, with approximately 7,600 customers without power due to weather.

With Tropical Storm Colin bringing severe weather to Florida, Duke Energy is responding and urging customers to be safe.

Duke Energy linemen will teach first responders about power line safety in anticipation of the upcoming hurricane season June 1 through Nov. 30.

CS Week today presented Duke Energy with its Best Mobility Implementation Award for the company's proactive customer outage notification program, which automatically provides registered customers with information about their power outage.
