Duke Energy today filed a new resource plan to advance the company’s energy transition while prioritizing reliability and affordability – one designed to help maintain North Carolina’s status as the nation’s top state for economic development.

More than 1,400 income-eligible customers in Volusia County’s DeBary neighborhood will receive a complimentary energy makeover this month for their house, mobile home or apartment as part of Duke Energy’s money-saving Neighborhood Energy Saver program.

Residential and commercial Piedmont Natural Gas customers in South Carolina and Tennessee now can reduce the impact of their own natural gas usage by participating in GreenEdge – a voluntary program that offers customers the opportunity to purchase green “blocks” from Piedmont and then claim the associated environmental benefits.

Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCA Florida), the state’s leading organization dedicated to marine fisheries conservation, education and advocacy, will join the Duke Energy Mariculture Center and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to continue their restocking efforts and release 250 hatchery-reared, adult redfish (averaging 18 to 27 inches in length) off the waters of Pinellas County on Wednesday in an effort to combat the decreasing population along Florida’s west coast.

The Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Duke Energy Florida for its tree care practices by naming the company a “Tree Line USA” utility for the 17th year in a row.
