Today, Duke Energy Florida announced the company’s large-scale battery facility in the Alachua County town of Micanopy is now capable of providing backup power to the local community, including homes, businesses, schools, public safety buildings and more, when it is needed most – during storms.

Today, Duke Energy Florida submitted its 2025 Solar Base Rate Adjustment (SoBRA) filing to the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC), outlining plans for four solar energy sites the company is pursuing this year in order to deliver on its commitment to continue providing reliable, affordable and increasingly clean energy for its customers.

With all 10 of Duke Energy Florida’s Clean Energy Connection solar energy sites now fully operational, the company is celebrating delivering on its commitment – part of a 2020 filing with the Florida Public Service Commission – to provide nearly 750 megawatts of solar generation in Florida from 2022 to 2024.

Duke Energy has made proposals to the North Carolina Utilities Commission and the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to help customers in both states to receive the benefits of solar energy without the commitment and expense of installing and maintaining rooftop panels.

Duke Energy has increased incentives and eligibility for many of its residential and business energy efficiency and demand response programs in North Carolina, expanding ways customers can save energy and money. The updates were approved by the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) and launched on Jan. 1, 2025.

Duke Energy has commissioned its new Duke Energy + Electrada Fleet Mobility Microgrid in Mount Holly, a first-of-its-kind electrification center for commercial and public electric fleet vehicles. Duke Energy has received approval for Green Source Advantage Choice (GSA-C) in North Carolina, a program that provides the opportunity for large business customers to support renewable energy development by supplementing their power usage with 100% renewable, carbon-free generation.
