Duke Energy announced today it has reached an agreement to sell its international businesses in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador and Argentina to I Squared Capital for approximately $1.2 billion enterprise value (cash and the assumption of debt). This represents the full remainder of the Latin American businesses Duke Energy is exiting.

Duke Energy announced today it has reached an agreement to sell its holdings in Brazil to China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) for approximately $1.2 billion in cash and the assumption of debt. The after-tax proceeds from the transaction are expected to be used to reduce Duke Energy holding company debt.

Power has been restored to more than 600,000 Duke Energy customers in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew over the weekend. Over 550,000 customers are without power now. In North Carolina, 410,000 customers are without power. In South Carolina: 140,000 customers.
