Prolonged below-normal temperatures are pushing home energy use higher across the Carolinas – and higher use can mean higher bills. Duke Energy is sharing practical steps and flexible options to help customers manage costs during this cold stretch.

Duke Energy Florida is sharing various resources to help customers manage their increased energy usage in January, when extreme winter weather swept across the state, which may have resulted in some receiving higher-than-average electric bills.

Following colder-than-usual winter weather in the Sunshine State, Duke Energy Florida is encouraging customers to complete a free Home Energy Check (for residential customers) or Business Energy Check (for commercial customers), allowing them to reevaluate their energy goals and take advantage of available rebate programs that can save them money in the short term and continue reducing their electric bills for years to come.

With recent dips in temperatures signaling winter’s arrival, Duke Energy urges its North Carolina customers to take advantage of tools to help keep their heating costs lower this season.

The City of Charlotte and Duke Energy Carolinas are launching an income-qualified energy efficiency home rehabilitation pilot program. The High Energy Use Pilot will help income-qualified customers with high energy use receive much-needed home repairs and energy efficiency retrofits that will improve housing safety and reduce their electricity usage and overall costs.
