On June 12, Duke Energy Progress asked South Carolina regulators to perform a public review of the company’s current base rates – the first such request since 2022. The request comes as the company continues working to increase system diversity and reliability, enhance the customer experience and meet future energy demands.

Today, Duke Energy Florida is celebrating Engineers Week – recognized as Sunday, Feb. 16, through Saturday, Feb. 22 – by highlighting the work of power grid dispatchers and the importance of training new engineers and technical workers to serve as the “eyes in the sky” of the grid that delivers power to more than 2 million customers across the company’s 35-county service territory.

While Florida grappled with back-to-back hurricanes this fall, Duke Energy’s year-round grid-strengthening work and advanced technology helped to reduce outage impacts for customers, enabling swift restorations.

Today, Duke Energy joined community leaders in Sumter County to celebrate the groundbreaking of the company’s new Wildwood Training Center, a state-of-the-art facility that will support the teams and systems that play a vital role in powering Florida communities.

Memorial Day weekend means the unofficial start of summer, which is followed by another summer passage, the beginning of hurricane season, which runs June 1 through Nov. 30.
