Duke Energy Carolinas yesterday made its annual filings with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for costs associated with fuel, state programs to encourage renewable energy adoption, and energy efficiency and demand management programs to reduce energy use.

Continuing its efforts to grow renewable energy in North Carolina, Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions, a nonregulated commercial brand of Duke Energy, recently began commercial operation of two major solar facilities in the state.

Duke Energy expects to restore power today to all 10,000 customers, mostly in coastal areas, who lost electricity due to last night’s winter storm in North Carolina and South Carolina.

A winter storm continues to move through the Carolinas today, cutting power to 67,000 Duke Energy customers so far, with more power outages likely to occur later today and into early Monday.
