Twenty government agencies and nonprofits are receiving Duke Energy Foundation grants of $25,000 to fund severe weather preparedness measures.

The air was electric, and the energy was tangible at a competition over the weekend where 30 Duke Energy lineworkers from across North Carolina and South Carolina took home top awards at the Carolinas Lineman’s Rodeo – earning the opportunity to move on to one of the most prominent and celebrated lineworker events in the world.

The funding will support programs focused on improving natural environments, enhancing community resilience, promoting land conservation, advancing clean water initiatives and supporting biodiversity.

On April 18, Duke Energy celebrates National Lineworker Appreciation Day – a day to recognize the service, commitment and sacrifices of lineworkers, team members who are critical to ensuring customers have access to safe and reliable electricity.

The organizations receiving funding are meeting expansive community needs, including completing structural repairs, building new homes and rebuilding damaged ones, removing storm debris, providing mental health services, rehabilitating waterways and more.
