In recognition of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, Duke Energy Florida, joined by several members of the Pinellas County legislative delegation, today announced $100,000 in grants to organizations serving the local community and helping residents as they continue to recover from the 2024 hurricane season.

Duke Energy has selected two properties in Connersville and Westfield for inclusion in its 2025 Site Readiness Program, which prepares high-potential business and industrial sites for economic development investments and markets them nationwide to companies looking to expand or relocate their operations.

Duke Energy Foundation and the Tampa Bay Rays announced a $82,000 donation to help customers across Florida pay their energy bills.

Qualified South Carolina nonprofits can now apply for Duke Energy Foundation grants up to $20,000 to fund existing programs that help make the necessary repairs that enable households to become eligible for energy efficiency improvements and long-term cost savings.

Duke Energy and Duke Energy Foundation awarded a total of $180,000 to five organizations that offer cultural, education and leadership initiatives for Hispanic and Latino community members. The grants awarded this year bring Duke Energy’s total investments in Hispanic/Latino programs to $1.2 million since 2016.

Having proudly operated in St. Petersburg for more than 125 years, Duke Energy Florida is dedicated to ensuring local residents have the information and supplies they need to stay safe during the remainder of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. As part of that commitment, the company distributed approximately 400 “Shelter in Place Kits,” in addition to several pet preparedness bags, at two multiservice senior centers in the area earlier today.

This summer, the Youth Energy Academy (YEA) hosted a series of career exploration events throughout Florida, designed to expose youth to careers in electric utility industries and related STEM fields.
