The Duke Energy Foundation is awarding $170,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations providing support for those impacted by devastating storms that moved across Indiana in late June and early July.

Duke Energy has restored power to more than 250,000 Indiana customers, but multiple waves of storms have added new outages. As of 12 p.m. today, about 45,000 customers remain without power. The company is aiming to restore the vast majority of these customers by midnight Sunday, but restoration efforts could be affected by additional storms that may move through the state.

Duke Energy crews continue to make progress bringing customers back to service from Thursday’s powerful storms, with approximately 169,000 customers restored. Crews are also responding to power outages from new storm systems that have caused an additional 20,000 outages, but overall power outages are down statewide to approximately 76,000 as of Saturday morning.

Duke Energy is working to restore power to thousands of customers in Indiana following the severe and damaging storms that ripped through Indiana Thursday. As of 3:30 p.m. ET Friday afternoon, crews have restored power for nearly 130,000 customers.

Winds as high as 90 miles an hour in some areas resulted in more than 202,000 power outages. Approximately 94,200 remain out of service as of about 7 a.m.

Less than a month into the 2023 hurricane season, Duke Energy Florida is reminding customers of the work underway to install stronger utility poles in vulnerable areas across the state to better withstand high winds.

The Florida State Parks Foundation and Duke Energy Florida have teamed up to provide a new trailer and equipment that will allow Florida State Parks’ strike and recovery teams to efficiently mobilize and respond to major storms and other severe weather events.

Memorial Day weekend means the unofficial start of summer, which is followed by another summer passage, the beginning of hurricane season, which runs June 1 through Nov. 30.

As Florida heads into another hurricane season, Duke Energy Florida is reminding customers about the benefits of its smart, self-healing technology to help combat power outages during storms.

First responders, including representatives from local police, fire and emergency management agencies throughout southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky attended an interactive training session on the company’s preparation for and response to severe weather.
