Duke Energy and its power outage response crews are ready for this weekend’s winter storm in the Carolinas – the third storm to hit the region this month.

Duke Energy today said it is on track to restore nearly all customers who lost power during the weekend winter storm in the Carolinas by late tonight, though many will be restored sooner.

A winter storm continues to move through the Carolinas today, cutting power to 67,000 Duke Energy customers so far, with more power outages likely to occur later today and into early Monday.

Duke Energy today said the hazardous wintry precipitation from this weekend’s approaching winter storm could cause an estimated 750,000 customers to lose power in North Carolina and South Carolina, based on the storm’s current forecasted track, and power outages in some of the hardest-hit areas could last several days.
